The Florida Onion is brought to you by a small eclectic group of local business owners and community members. We are all volunteers, and we are always looking for help. If you're interested in joining us, please drop us a line at floridaonion@hotmail.com or come to one of our weekly meetings. We meet every Wednesday at noon in Marina's Diner in Florida, NY.

The Florida Onion's Roots

The Florida Onion was started by Stephanie Coleman-Simon. Stephanie, a new resident of the area approached various organizations to garner support for a "newspaper" specially for the Florida, NY community. The Florida Chamber of Commerce took the helm, and with support from the Florida Union Free School District and the Florida Public Library, The Florida Onion was born. The first issue was in August 2006.
